The band proposes a Doom/Black metal sound with old school roots, adding a modern and outside the box background. The female voice - with strong wave influences - is the lyric corpus of this strongly esoteric project. The presence of two basses creates the massive foundation for the rythmic guitar, everything marked by a raw and dynamic drumming. This creates the atmosphere of Ponte del Diavolo
Formed in 2018 in the city of Aalborg, Bogwife – named after a mythical, swamp dwelling creature from Scandinavian folklore – is a Danish quartet which experiments with elements of doom, stoner rock and psychedelia to create a mesmerizing mist of sound which, much like its namesake, casts a spell over everyone it touches.
Their debut album, Halls of Rebirth, released in July of last year was not only well received across the scene in general, which was no small feat given how little opportunity the band had to play live or test their material out in front of fans. Using that spare time to write new material instead, the band pushed ahead and recorded their second full-length – titled, A Passage Divine – with Jacob Bredahl at Dead Rat Studio in the spring of 2021.
The band got nominated Best New Band by the Doomed and Stoned Award show presented by Revolver Magazine in 2020, and their second full-length placed 2nd in the September 2021 Doom Charts.
