Brolandingerne 2021 er en række kulturelle begivenheder, der finder sted ved Limfjordsbroen på hver sin side af vandet.
If artworks could talk, what would they say?
Come under the Limfjord Bridge in Nørresundby and experience an online video meeting between “Flying Saucers” and three other modernist sculptures from Aalborg.
In her video work, Paula Kaniewska lets the artworks speak about their origin, life in the streets and their complex identity. The sculptures were created in the 1967 by a group of Polish artists together with workers from Aalborg Shipyard. They were the realization of the avant-garde utopian dream about art that is close to everyday life, made for people, not for the museums. But as the sculptures were a part of the city space, they were exposed to changes and dangers that they would not experience in the safe institutional space.
Paula Kaniewska (1989) graduated in 2015 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since 2017 she lives in Aalborg. She works with painting, drawing, textiles and animation. Her artistic practice concentrates on boundaries. Kaniewska documents existing divisions, but also tries to deconstruct them by looking for discontinuities and disruptions. Artist’s interest in boundaries also leads to her cartographic works.
Brolandingerne and this project specifically is generously supported by Aalborg Kommune.
