Set in a heightened version of today’s world, 5 characters try to understand what it means to be real
when reality itself is a representation. Some interrogate their use of language while others question
the reality of their own bodies or thoughts. Always watching is The Child, forcing everyone to keep
busy and to successfully become successful human beings.
Concerned with the prevailing understanding of what it means to be a successful human being in our
culture and the negative consequences the ways we measure this success has on people’s mental
health, this exhibition traces vocabularies, desires, and actions through performance, diagrams,
drawings and large silk paintings.
Are our wants in life “real” or are they merely representations of the larger dominating structures of
the society in which we live?

production and distribution of meaning, realities, and languages, with special attention to the ways
in which narratives around “the meaningful” are embodied in everyday life.
