Monkey Okay’s sophomore album will see the light of day on physical formats September 12th, 2020 and afterwards in a digital format, and on streaming services, October 10th, 2020. It is an album that can be defined as a gloomy, post-psychedelic, stoner prog-rock album, but mostly the band just call it rock. The band shies away from any strict genre definitions or musical styles, but instead try to employ and encompass whatever sound they feel best conveys the message of any given song - this has lead them to a much more experimental and improvisational way of creating and playing their music; something that is very apparent on the new album.
A Collaboration of Art
Early in the process after the recording of the album’s title track and centrepiece, The Long Haul…, the band began a collaboration with acclaimed Danish artist Peter Max-Jakobsen on the visual aspects of the release. Akin to the uncompromising approach the band applies to the creative process of making music, the collaboration with Peter Max-Jakobsen likewise was uncompromising and took some unexpected turns. He ended up creating a 6,5 feet tall painting inspired by the music. This massive piece was turned into 4 different vinyl editions where both the cover art, vinyl colour and of course the audio are integral parts of the album’s artistic expression.
On this day, at your all time favorite venue, Monkey Okay will play three exclusive shows... and each show will be limited to approx 30 people.
Tickets for each show coming soon!
The Peepshop will house the sale of both merch and album during the whole day. No tickets needed for attending the Peepshop.
Remember! We are happy that we get to play shows, release our album and hopefully see you all at either 1000fryd or the Peepshop, but we are still in the midst of the Corona virus, so remember to keep your distance, wash your hands and stay safe. There will also be a maximum amount of people allowed in the Peepshop at once, but we'll keep an eye on that.
