The BellRays hail from Riverside, California and have been putting on the show of their lives since 1990. Punk, rock and soul have been used to try and categorize what they do but some how isn't enough. Seeing is believing and this is a band to see. You won't forget it!
The Courettes! Release Party
WHAAAAUW! The Courettes is the garage duo sensation from Brazil and Denmark! It's savage! It's dynamic!
After the blasting debut album “Here are the Courettes” (Sounds of Subterrania, Germany, 2015), the explosive single “Boom! Dynamite!” (Bachelor Records, Austria, 2016), the thrilling single “Hoodoo Hop”, a split with Powersolo (Sounds of Subterrania, Germany, 2017) and a shaking live album “alive from Tambourine Studios” (Chaputa Records, Portugal, 2017) – all of them critically acclaimed on the garage scene all around Europe - The Courettes are back with a new album, “We Are The Courettes”! And it’s gonna be a mover!!!
“The thunder, lightning and velocity are all here – again and better, in new songs that keep kicking the history forward. I can’t imagine my turntable without The Courettes”, wrote thee rock n’ roll connaisseur David Fricke (Rolling Stone) for the album’s inner notes.
Fuzzy wild sounds are there, loud as hell drumming also, but the band is adding some additional elements to their garage recipe: a bit of soul ballads, a handful of 60s girlie pop. Sonic quality is now stereo and overdubs like organ, piano and backing vocals were allowed – all performed by The Courettes themselves, of course! The album has already begun to receive good reviews, especially in the UK:
"The dynamite just keeps on coming! The sonic boom that they’ve come to customise is intact but they’re growing into a multi-faceted rockin’ machine. It continues to outline just how much better these kids are than the slew of two person crews that are out there, there’s an extra oomph to this combo. The pop crunch of “All About You” is like supercharged Lulu."

“The Courettes’ new album sees a smooth sideways shift from the garage rock n roll of their previous releases. They’re channelling the essence of some of the great classic Spector girl groups - The Ronettes and The Crystals - but with the avalanche guitar sound of Link Wray. Given the right exposure – Tarantino would love them – and with their usual eye-catching graphics - they could easily tap into that vacuum left by The Detroit Cobras and The White Stripes. Early contender for album of the year for me!

“Opener ‘Hoodoo Hop’ starts with frantic drumming and a great sounding guitar. ‘Nobody But You’ is the Kinks with a female vocal. ‘Strawberry Boy’ is a slower number which has a 60’s girl band feel but with lovely John Lennon style guitar providing the backing. All About You’ is another girl band song with fantastic old-fashioned/modern backing. The last track, ‘Fool Fool Fool’, begins with quiet strumming and a clear heartfelt vocal which again evokes this wonderful period of pop and early rock.”

“We Are The Courettes” is produced by Kim Kix and features horror legend Coffin Joe on “Voodo Doll”. “Voodoo Doll” video is gonna be the first release world wide on revolutionary media “vinyl video”. Yes, that’s right! The first images ever coming out of a vinyl record are gonna be of The Courettes!!! Ultimate retro-futuristic coolness!
Flavia Couri (Vox, Guitar) and Martin Couri (Drums, Vox) in their short career have delivered their full-speed energetic performances in festivals like Eurosonic (Holland), Reeperbahn and Garageville (Germany), Cosmic Trip (France), Franklin Fest (UK), Gutter Island, SPOT, Distortion and Copenhagen Psych Fest (Denmark) and also rocked the stages in Sweden, Finland, Spain, Austria, Portugal and Brazil and have received praising from some of the most important music journalists of the world like David Fricke (Rolling Stone) and Kieron Tyler (Mojo).
