After looking at how the public sphere is increasingly transformed and privatized by ‘corporate rationalization’ and crony capitalism, we now want to look at ourselves and ask: When have we become consumers rather than citizens? How did we get there? What does it even mean to be a citizen today? Can a consumerist attitude be reconciled with civic virtues?
