Demerit is a hardcore-punk band from Beijing, China. Demerit has gained a reputation for blazing sets that mix the ferocious energy of street punk with the heavy guitar riffs of 1980s metal.

Since their formation in 2004, Demerit has planted the flag of Chinese punk throughout the country during their wide-ranging tours and is considered leaders and guides for the younger generation of Chinese punks, inspiring the formation of an autonomous crew of die-hards—the Demerit Army,known for their fervent dedication to the Frenzied Four.

The band takes the rebellious spirit of punk very seriously and have cooperated widely with foreign bands touring China, including DOA (Canada), Queers (USA), Insurgent Kid (Sweden), SS20 (Ger-many) and Suck Stuff (Korea), as well as many young new Chinese bands kicking off their careers.
