Rebel Roots
The 3rd of December an event dedicated to the roots and dub music, sub genre of reggae music, arrives to town. It will start by the screening of 'Rockers' at 1000fryd's cinema kl. 19.

DJ will start in the café from 20:00

Rockers is a movie filmed in the late seventies Jamaica. In that time the reggae was fully developed and spread among the island's population. Most of the characters of the movie are reggae singers and musicians. For example Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, which starres the movie, has been drummer in many studio sessions at Channel One, Harry J, Joe Gibbs or Black Ark studio.

The movie shows an insight of the jamaican society and the position of reggae music on its golden era, relegated to be the ghetto people music and the vehicle to transmit their sufferation. Therefore it could barely be listened in commercial circles and its diffusion was limited to sound system sessions, thus the music was mixed at the studio for being reproduced in such equipment.

From kl 20 , there will be music at the café: a selection of fine roots music, strictly in vinyl from the personal collection of Ras Fraguas, spanish selecter settled in Aalborg. The selection will focus on productions from the 70s and early 80s, from names like Augustus Pablo, King Tubby, Scientist or Lee Perry.
