Both Giöbia from Italy and Hamburgs own Sick Hyenas play this years Psych Fest in Copenhagen and we are more than proud to welcome both of them to 1000Fryd!
Giöbia has been one of the most influential psychedelic bands in Italy over the last years. Seduced by the lysergic side of the ‘60s, by exotic mantras and the evocative power of space-rock, Giöbia is a band from Milano, Italy with many facets and one only faith, that is to turn every encounter with sound into a psychedelic experience.
Though they seem most consistently at home somewhere between late-’60s psych-pop and more brash, stripped down garage rock, Giobia (also written Giöbia, with an umlaut), also work in an array of elements from post-rock and shoegazing experimental drones as well as space rock and even hints of New Wave-type progressive rhythms.
Sick Hyenas is a three piece psych tarantino western influenced garage band from Hamburg. Grimey hip-swinging rock n’ roll with some country twang in the mix.
The Black Lips from St Pauli?… NO! The Seeds? Not either. It's the Sick Hyenas! Sick Hyenas have been creeping all the good, bad and hidden places of Hamburg’s rock’n’roll side for some time now. The sickness they’re spreading would be well described as a kind of dirty and incurable psychedelism.
This past May, they debuted a new 12-track album across a variety of outlets and platforms from a European vinyl LP on Moody Monkey Records to cassettes on Dumpster Tapes (us) and Retard Records (f).
